BLACKX is currently on hiatus, but we'll be back!
This post is long past due, but as the dust settles and my life starts to resume some form of normalcy, I'm ready to tap the reset button on BLACKX soon! The truth is, COVID hit me hard. Financially, mentally, personally.
As a single woman living alone, being isolated during quarantine was difficult enough. Then the work stopped coming, the depression set in, and the final blow hit when multiple family members got sick with COVID-19, including an immediate family member who had to be hospitalized to help fight it. I'm being vague to protect their privacy, but I'm also not one to share much about my personal struggles all out loud in the open like this, y'all! The point is, the hits kept coming, and for my own mental health I needed to take a step back from BLACKX to focus on my family, my health, and ya know - keeping a roof over my head and my rude cats fed.
Luckily, bad shit can't last forever! After several insanely difficult months, things are going well now. My family members have recovered, or are recovering well (it's a journey), and generally things are finally turning around so I have the mental space to check back in here with BLACKX and give it 100% again.
BLACKX be back from this hiatus soon, and with a few new things for y'all to explore! I can't wait to get back to helping to shine the spotlight on all of the alternative Black womxn out there doing great things, and it's my honor to serve the Black alternative community in a way that, hopefully, makes life a little more rad.
See ya soon.
